Menparekraf Sandiaga Asks Tourists To Beware Of Mount Sulawesi Space Eruption
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno called on tourists to remain aware of the eruption of Mount Ruang in North Sulawesi (Sulut). "To remain vigilant and Alhamdulillah yesterday mitigated our crisis management from the function for communication went well," Sandiaga said at the 2024 Halal Bihalal Kemenparekraf event in Jakarta, Friday. He also appealed to tourists to always be alert and careful when traveling, especially for tourists around the mountain area. It is known that the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) noted that Mount Space in the Regency of the Sitaro Islands, North Sulawesi erupted several times. On April 17 at 18.00 WITA, the eruption in Mount Ruang returned to occur, then on the same date at 20.15 WITA there was a continuous eruption. At the eruption of April 17, 2024 at 20.15 WITA, visuals on the Island of Ruang were observed to have explosive eruption accompanied by ejection of incandescent material accompanied by hot clouds which resulted in stone rain and sand on Tagulandang Island.

The activity of this continuous eruption was also recorded at a seismic station on Mount Karangetang (Siau Island/Sitaro Islands Regency), Gunung Awu (Ganihe Islands Regency), Soputan (Central Minahasa Regency), Tangkoko (Bitung City), Lokon and Mahawu in Tomohon City. The eruption footage originating from Mount Ruangan at the stations of Mount Awu, Soputan, Tangkoko, and Mahawu began to subside on April 18, 2024 at 02.50 WITA.
