Acting Walkot Encourages Kendari Kejari To Investigate PKL Extortion In The MTQ Area
Acting (Pj) Kendari Mayor Muhammad Yusup asked the Kendari District Attorney (Kejari) to investigate illegal levies (extortion) on street vendors (PKL) in the former MTQ area.
Yusup said that one of the things that made traders insist on refusing control was the existence of illegal stall rental levies by certain individuals and has been going on for a long time.
"I have asked law enforcement officials to investigate and take action against individuals involved in illegally collecting stall rentals," he said in Kendari, Friday, April 19, which was confiscated by Antara.
According to him, what the irresponsible individuals did was a violation of the law, as well as being very detrimental to traders and the government.
"It is very detrimental to traders because the regions have never collected fees in the MTQ area, which incidentally is a public open space area," he said.

He added that the control of street vendors that will be carried out is to restore the main function of the area as an icon of Kendari City, which is the capital city of Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra) to look beautiful and comfortable.
"Therefore, the City Government will control so that our icon, who should be proud, does not look as shabby as it is now," he said.
