Danpuspom Affirms The Abuse Of The TNI Service Plate For Criminal Violations
The Commander of the Central Military Police (Danpuspom) TNI Major General Yusri Nuryanto reminded the public that the misuse of the TNI official vehicle plate was a criminal offense.
Yusri issued the appeal after an incident of abuse of TNI service plates by a man with the initials PWGA who has now been arrested and detained at Polda Metro Jaya.
"The public should not abuse or falsify the use of TNI service plates because this act is a criminal act as regulated and threatened in Article 263 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 6 years and Article 280 of the LLAJR Law with a fine of Rp. 500,000," said Danpuspom TNI when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Yusri explained that the forgery and misuse of the TNI's official vehicle plates was detrimental and tarnished the good name of the TNI. Often, those who fake the service plate also act arrogantly towards other motorists.
"The use of TNI official vehicles must be driven by people who have TNI SIMs, namely TNI soldiers and TNI retired soldiers," said Yusri.
He also appealed to the public not to be tempted by the offer to make TNI service plates and permits to use the plate. "People don't believe if there are people who promise to make TNI service plates and their letters, let alone the offer through online media," said Yusri.

He explained that the TNI Puspom continues to coordinate with the National Police to take firm action against the perpetrators of counterfeiting TNI service plates. The TNI Puspom has also transferred several cases of forgery of TNI service plates carried out by the community to the police. However, Yusri did not mention the number of cases that were delegated at least in the last year.
Danpuspom also asked the public to immediately report to the TNI Puspom when they find people promising to make TNI official vehicle plates.
"If the public finds that there are users of the TNI service plate who violate the provisions and are used by irresponsible people, please report to the TNI Puspom, including if someone offers to make TNI service plates for civil society," said Yusri.
In a video that went viral on social media last week, a Toyota Fortuner driver had an argument with another driver on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 56 toll road. The Fortuner driver, at the time of the incident, used a fake TNI service vehicle plate with registration number 84337-00.
The TNI official car plate was actually used by the Professor of the Indonesian Defense University, Marshal TNI Retired. Prof. Asep Adang Supriyadi. The legal owner of the plate in his official broadcast stated that he did not know and had no relationship with the plate forger who rode the Toyota Fortuner.
Asep explained that the official plate was installed on his Mitsubishi Pajero Sport vehicle. The operational vehicle has been used by Asep since he retired as a high-ranking TNI officer in 2020.
"The vehicle that I use with the service number plate is Pajero Sport and is registered in the system, not Toyota Fortuner as has gone viral in the news video," Asep said in an open letter addressed to Kapuspen TNI and Danpuspom TNI.
Regarding the same number plate as his, Asep said, "I really don't know because I never gave, lent, or delegated the use of the service plate number to other people.
