Bicycle Racing Athlete Bernard Benyamin Qualifies For The 2024 Paris Olympics
JAKARTA Indonesian cycling athlete, Bernard Benyamin Van Aert, got a ticket to appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics which took place in the middle of this year.
The ticket obtained by Bernard was announced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) through their official Instagram account, Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
"Indonesia's cycling athlete, Bernard Benyamin Van Aert, managed to get a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics," said the statement in the upload.
Bernard qualified for this prestigious event after qualifying in the Track Olympic Ranking which is ranked 20th. In France, the athlete will compete in the men's omnium category.
Bernard confirmed a place for the 2024 Paris Olympics after closing the qualifying series by finishing in 11th place in the 2024 UCI Track Nations in the men's ominium number.

The ticket obtained by Bernard also lifted the prestige of Indonesian bicycle racing. The last time Indonesia passed a track disciplined bicycle racing athlete was at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Now, Indonesia has a total of 17 representatives who have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Red-White contingent has a target of sending more than 28 athletes to the world's largest four-yearly event.
Previously, 16 tickets to Paris were secured by six badminton representatives, archery and rock climbing of two, three weightlifters, and one artistic gymnastics, one shooting, and one surfing.
