NATO Asks Israel To Hold Back After Iran's Drone-Rudal Attack

JAKARTA - NATO condemned Iran's attack on Israel and called for self-control.

"We condemn Iran's escalation overnight, call for restraint, and closely monitor its progress," NATO spokesman Farah Dakhlallah said on Sunday in a post on X.

"It is very important that the conflict in the Middle East does not get out of control," he said.

Meanwhile, Israel's war cabinet began its meeting after Iranian drone and missile attacks, an official told CNN.

The war cabinet consists of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Benny Gantz, party leader of National Unity and former Minister of Defense. Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer including politicians Gadi Eisenkot and Aryeh Deri who sit in the cabinet of war as observers.

The war cabinet meeting was held when Israel determined its response after Iran launched dozens of missiles from its territory to Israel on Saturday, April 13 evening.

The Israeli military said "99 percent" of the more than 300 missiles fired by Iran were intercepted by Israel and "partners".

US President Joe Biden stressed the US would not engage in any offensive operations against Iran, according to a senior government official.
