D+2 Lebaran, Two Districts In Bandarlampung Flood Due To Broken Embankment

BANDARLAMPUNG - Bandarlampung City Government (Pemkot) said the floods that hit Teluk Betung Selatan and Teluk Betung Barat sub-districts on Friday were caused by a broken embankment.

"Flooding in the area is one of the causes, namely the broken embankment. It turns out that the 20-meter-high embankment in Citra Garden collapsed," said Bandarlampung Mayor Eva Dwiana, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 13.

Then he also said that the flood had spread to a number of locations and could not be separated from the small river flow that had been closed by the housing developer here.

"In this location there is actually a small river, but it seems that it has been closed. So we will follow up and coordinate with the housing sector to return the river properly," he said.

He also emphasized that the embankment that broke the Bandarlampung City Government had ordered the Public Works (PU) to immediately repair it.

"The embankment that broke down, I have ordered the Public Works to be carried out and repaired everything. Because the water that inundated the houses of residents in the two sub-districts was caused by the broken embankment," he said.

On the other hand, he also said that the Bandarlampung City Government as soon as possible provided rice assistance to residents affected by the flood.

"We have ordered the sub-district and village heads to collect data on residents affected by the flood to be given assistance. In the near future it will be distributed soon," he said.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has confirmed that there will be no casualties due to the flood disaster that hit the city of Bandarlampung, Lampung, Friday morning.
