Novak Djokovic Advances In Monte Carlo Masters After Defeating Lorenzo Musetti

JAKARTA - Novak Djokovic managed to take revenge for his loss at last year's Monte Carlo Masters from Lorenzo Musetti to reach the quarter-finals on Thursday.

World number one Djokovic started badly and made several mistakes in the second set, before winning with a score of 7-5, 6-3 over Musetti in the last 16. Musetti was the one who defeated him in the same place 12 months ago.

Djokovic will next play against Australian 11th seed Alex de Minaur in the last eight.

The top Serbian seed failed to maximize his wave in the opening game before rising and equalizing to 4-4. From there, Djokovic managed to win the set by utilizing the double fault his opponent did.

Djokovic twice broke his opponent's serve in the second set before his serve was broken by Musetti, to change the position to 4-1. Musetti was able to bounce back to win the next game, but Djokovic again broke the opponent's serve to change the score to 5-3 before confirming his win.

Recently Djokovic has struggled to find his best performance in Monte Carlo. He has not won the tournament since winning his last two titles there in 2015, failing to surpass the quarter-finals phase in his last seven appearances.
