Landslide, RI-Malaysia Border Road In Kapuas Hulu Total Cut Off

KAPUAS HULU - Access to national roads in Sungai Abau Village, Batang Lupar District, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan was buried by landslides, as a result, the road connecting the district capital city to Indonesia's border with Malaysia could not be passed by vehicles.

"There are four points of national roads that are affected by landslides, including in Bukit Genting Lanjak, for now vehicles cannot pass," said Lupar Barang Sub-district Head ALEXus Burin, contacting ANTARA, at Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, quoted by ANTARA Thursday, April 11.

Burin explained that the location of the landslide occurred at four points, namely around Batu Ancau, the Iring River intersection or the Sedik River burial place, the Lubang Landak area and the vicinity of Bukit Genting Lanjak.

According to him, the landslide incident is thought to occur at night due to high rainfall.

"The landslide hoarding does cover all roads at four points," he said.

The incident has been reported to the Kapuas Hulu Regency Government.

The Batang Lupar sub-district head appealed to the public to use or motorists so that they would not temporarily force themselves to go to the border, precisely around the landslide location, because road access could not be passed at all.

Meanwhile, Head of the Kapuas Hulu Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Gunawan said the landslide incident had been reported to the West Kalimantan Provincial Task Force which handled natural disasters as well as to the Kapuas Hulu Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office.

"Based on reports from the Camat and Kades, we followed up reporting to the West Kalimantan Batingsor Task Force and also to the Kapuas Hulu PUPR Service," he said.

Gunawan reminded the public to be careful and always be aware of these incidents, especially natural disasters such as floods, landslides and tornadoes.

"The intensity of rainfall is currently quite high, prone to floods, landslides and also tornadoes," he said.
