9 Orrang Becomes Suspected Of Destroying The Regent's Official House And KPU Asmat Papua
JAYAPURA - The police have named 9 suspects in the vandalism case at the regent's office and official residence, as well as the KPU office in Agast, Asmat, Papua.
The determination of the nine suspects was carried out after investigators examined intensively after carrying out the damage. Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Ahmad Kamal, said that the destruction was carried out by a group of people on Wednesday, March 3 after the inauguration of the Asmat regent and deputy regent which was centered in the Jayapura state building.
Before committing the vandalism, the masses who did not receive the results of the Asmat Regency election made speeches at the KPU and Bawaslu offices. Crowds were also reported to have looted around Jalan Yos Sudarso.
The nine suspects are currently detained at the Asmat Police Headquarters in Agast. Meanwhile, three other people who were also arrested have been sent home.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Asmat Police, AKBP Danny Gumilar, admitted that the current social security situation is relatively safe and under control. However, members are still on alert in a number of areas that are considered vulnerable.
"The Asmat Police received under the operational control (BKO) of 20 Brimob personnel from Merauke to strengthen security," said AKBP Gumilar as quoted by Antara.
