Fire Scorched 7 Houses In Samarinda, 4 Fire Volunteers Injured

The densely populated settlement fire on Jalan Toyib Hadi Wijaya, Gang Damai, East Sempaja, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, crushed seven houses. It was reported that four firefighters were injured.

"The fire was only extinguished after an hour 45 minutes with extinguishing efforts from nine units of fire trucks, 12 portable volunteers, and assistance from various related elements," said Samarinda City Fire and Rescue Service Head Hendra AH as reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 8.

He said seven houses were burned to the ground, while one was affected but did not run aground. The number of victims was eight families or 24 people who occupied the house, then fled to a safe place.

"There were no casualties at the fire incident," he said.

He mentioned three volunteers with minor injuries, while the other was lightly burned while helping to extinguish the fire.

The fire is thought to have originated from the second floor of Irum's house, while the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the police.

Some obstacles were faced by officers when extinguishing the fire, such as narrow road access, minimal water sources, and many residents watching the incident.
