New Year 2024 Giant Carrion Flower Blooms Perfect During Eid Holidays
West Java's Cibodas Cianjur Botanical Gardens recorded the long holiday of Eid Al-Fitr 2024 along with the bloom of a giant corpse flower that visitors have been waiting for from various regions because the flower bloom process is not every year.
General Manager of the Cibodas Botanical Gardens (KRC) Joko Sulistio said, this is the first time a giant corpse flower has bloomed during a long holiday, where the number of visits is increasing until D+7 Lebaran 2024 as the previous year.
"This year's distribution coincides with the perfect bloom of the giant corpse flower which has been eagerly awaited by tourists from various regions such as Jabodetabek, for Eid this year residents and tourists can see firsthand the bloom of the corpse flower," he said in Cianjur, Sunday, April 7, confiscated by Antara.
His party estimates that the corpse flower will bloom perfectly with a height of more than 2 meters, starting April 16 based on the results of monitoring by researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the KRC Horticulture Supervisor, the flower began to bud on February 16, 2024.
The latest observation on April 5, the height of the giant carcass flower that has not yet bloom has reached 171.5 centimeters, while the growth of the tubers of the 76th giant carcass flower coincides with the commemoration of the 172nd anniversary of the KRC.
"This will be an attraction for tourists who have been asking when the corpse flower will bloom, this year apart from coinciding with the KRC anniversary, it also coincides with Eid al-Fitr, so that the bloom of corpse flowers becomes a very special gift," he said.

However, his party appealed to visitors or tourists not to damage or interfere with the bloom of carrion flowers in any way, as happened a few years ago, where visitors threw the upper part of the corpse flower that was in bloom.
"It is certain that this is a rare event so that many people are waiting for us, so we invite visitors not to do things that can harm and damage plants in the botanical garden," he said.
General Manager of Corporate Communication (Corcomm) PT Mitra Natura Raya Zaenal Arifin said the bloom of the giant corpse flower at KRC since the last few years could be witnessed almost once a year because it has 13 specimens embedded in one location.
Unlike the Bogor Kebur Raya, where giant corpse flowers that bloom can only be seen every four or five years, so that new rare moments in 2024, where giant carcass flowers will bloom perfectly coincide with the long holiday of the holiday.
"Visitors can take a vacation while studying with the bloom of a giant corpse flower that will bloom again this year, where the bloom coincides with the holiday, so we predict the number of visits will continue to increase," he said.
