New Sumatra Island Homecomers Arrive Today, The Peak Of Homecoming Flows In Bakauheni Shifts To Tomorrow

The peak of the 2024 Eid homecoming flow at Bakauheni Port, South Lampung to Merak, Banten did not occur in accordance with previous predictions on D-3 Lebaran 2024 or today, Sunday 7 April.

General Manager of PT ASDP Bakauheni Branch, South Lampung, Rudi Sunarko, said this was because the number of travelers today decreased compared to the previous day.

According to him, travelers from the provinces of Jambi, Bengkulu, Padang, and other Sumatra islands only arrived today so that the shift in the peak of the homecoming flow at Bakauheni Port will shift to tomorrow.

"So indeed by looking at today's data, there is a shift in the peak of the homecoming flow at Bakauheni Port. We predict the peak itself will start happening today until Monday tomorrow. This is because many vehicles from outside Lampung have just arrived to make a crossing to Java Island," he said. Rudi in Bakauheni, Sunday 7 April, confiscated by Antara.

He explained, based on 24-hour data from the Bakauheni port post, passenger movement decreased, namely as many as 47,165 passengers, the number was lower than the previous day which reached 51,905 people.

Rudi Sunarko appealed to ferry service users to buy Ferizy tickets from a long time ago.

"We continue to appeal to prospective travelers from Sumatra to Java who use ASDP crossing services to buy tickets from far away," he said.

Then, South Lampung Police Chief AKBP Yusriandi Yusrin also said that his party predicts that there will be a shift in the peak of the homecoming flow at Bakauheni Port, where the prediction can be seen from the data on the number of passengers.

"We predict that the peak of this homecoming flow will occur on Mondays and Tuesdays or D-2 and D-1," said the Police Chief.

Therefore, his party will carry out strict monitoring to anticipate a surge in passengers from Sunday night to Monday.

"We have been monitoring since last night there has been no significant increase in the number of ship passengers, and we will continue to monitor it and we will anticipate if there is a surge in passengers," he said.

To note, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has imposed a new provision for purchasing ferry tickets starting December 11, 2023.

This provision applies to Bakauheni Port, Merak Port, Ketapang Port, and Gilimanuk Port.
