Five Nagari In Tanah Datar Hit By Mount Marapi Cold Lava Flood
A total of five villages (villages) in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra were hit by lava floods from Mount Marapi on Friday (5/4) afternoon until evening.
"A cold lava flood was triggered by high-intensity rain around the peak of the Marapi volcano so that it created a large flow into the rivers that originated on the mountain," said Head of the Tanah Datar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Dr. Revlin in Batusangkar, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 6.
The five villages are Nagari Aia Angek, District X Koto, Nagari Sabu, Batipuh District, Nagari Sungai Jambu, Pariangan District, Nagari Limo Kaum, Lima Kaum District, and Nagari Sungai Tarab District, Sungai Tarab District.
The rain lava flood in Nagari Aia Angek resulted in the state road connecting Bukittinggi-Padang being unable to be passed by vehicles for several hours, from Friday (5/4) afternoon until evening.
The flow of rain lava floods also caused damage to embankments and roads in a number of locations.
In other Nagari, such as in Lima Kaum District, rain lava floods shed material, such as pieces of wood and stone, and damaged residents' agricultural land.
"We appeal to the public to remain careful considering the current intensity of rain in West Sumatra is still high," he said.
