Hours Of Traffic Jams In Betung Banyuasin, Police Say Because Drivers Take Each Other
PALEMBANG - Police officers from Banyuasin Resort, South Sumatra revealed that the traffic jam that occurred on Jalan Lintas Betung Banyuasin was caused by motorists taking each other.
"The police can only unravel congestion because there is no alternative route in the area and drivers who are stuck in traffic are asked to be patient," said Banyuasin Police Chief AKBP Ferly Rosa Putra, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, April 5.
To unravel congestion in Betung, the police can only slowly unravel it to overcome the congestion. Drivers are asked to be patient because there is no alternative route in the Betung area.
Then the road width was only 6.8 meters and the vehicles grabbed each other and even caused four to five piles of vehicle lanes so that at the road points there was less wide accumulation of vehicles.
The action against motorists who grab is not carried out because according to him, it is not right at the time of dispersal, but the police taking action will only make the vehicle pile up.
Meanwhile, the alternative to the Musi take-off to Betung toll road has not been opened because the situation is still empty in the area, it will only be opened if there is a buildup as an alternative traffic.
He appealed to all motorists crossing the Betung road area who do not yet know the characteristics or conditions of the road that can only be crossed by the right and left lanes and are prohibited from preceding or grabbing each other.

"The driver's awareness is very important to overcome congestion, because the Betung area always experiences congestion every year because it grabs each other," he said.
Meanwhile, according to traffic jam drivers, it lasts up to five hours.
"It's been this afternoon, it's been almost five hours since last afternoon we've been stuck in traffic jams in Betung," said Usman, a car driver.
