Session Of The 2024 Presidential Election Dispute, Airlangga Reveals The Reason For The Perlinsos Budget To Continue To Rise

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto conveyed that the increase in the social protection budget (perlinsos) in 2024 was due to fluctuations in line with economic developments.

Airlangga emphasized that the amount of social welfare fluctuates in line with economic developments from 2020, until 2024 the social welfare budget is above IDR 440 trillion.

"The social welfare budget for 2023 with a ceiling of Rp476 trillion has been realized in the amount of Rp443.4 trillion. Meanwhile, the 2024 budget is set with a ceiling of Rp496.8 trillion as stipulated in Law Number 19 of 2023 concerning the 2024 State Budget," he said while giving a statement at the 2024 General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) or Presidential Election, Friday, April 5, 2024.

Airlangga said that the increase in the 2024 Perlinsos budget was mainly contributed by the increase in the energy subsidy budget and the movement of the exchange rate.

According to Airlangga, the realization of the price of Indonesian crude oil or Indonesia Crude Price (ICP) in 2023 is 78.43 US dollars per barrel. Meanwhile, the assumption of the 2024 ICP is 82 US dollars per barrel.

"The rupiah exchange rate also increased on average from IDR 15,230 to an average of IDR 15,664 in 2024," he said.

Airlangga said the increase in oil prices and the rupiah exchange rate had implications for increasing energy subsidies in 2024 compared to 2023 and there was also an increase in fuel volume from 16.5 million kilo liters to 19.5 million kilo liters.

"The largest social protection budget is in the form of fuel, electricity, LPG, fertilizer, PSO, program loans with 58.3 percent share in 2024 and 55.9 percent in 2024 which has increased and fuel is one of the main competitors," he explained.
