Jayapura Social Service Comb ODGJ Directly Taken To Abepura Hospital

PAPUA - The Jayapura City Social Service (Dinsos) has picked up people with mental disorders (ODGJ) who are currently still roaming the highway to be taken to the Abepura Mental Hospital (RSJ).

Head of Jayapura City Social Service, Djong Mahuay, said that after entering the holidays and leave with Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri, his party together with the Health Service and Satpol PP began to intensively patrol ODGJ who were still roaming the streets and then immediately taken to the Abepura Hospital.

"We did this in 2023, but indeed when it was brought to their family they did not want to accept it, so this year the ODGJ we met on the road was immediately taken directly to the RSJ for services," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Thursday, April 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

Mahuuay admitted that ODGJ in Jayapura City was very disturbing to the public, even a few weeks ago ODGJ was stabbed by residents at the Youtefa Traditional Market so he was immediately treated at Bhayangkara Hospital.

"Then we provided assistance and when he was declared cured by the doctor, he was immediately taken to the Abepura Hospital," he said.

His party noted that up to now there are as many as 10 ODGJs who are still roaming the highway but come from outside the area.

"This makes it difficult for us to provide health services because their identity must be changed to a resident of Jayapura City in order to get services," he said.

He added that when the patrol was carried out and found ODGJ, his party first checked their identity, because it involved health services at the Abepura Hospital in the future or could be financed by the Health BPS.
