Dito Mahendra Sentenced To 7 Months In Prison, Judge Ordered To Be Expelled From Detention Cell
JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) sentenced the defendant Mahendra Dito Sampurno alias Dito Mahendra to a case of possession of firearms and ammunition without permission by imprisonment for seven months.
"The defendant Mahendra Dito Sampurno was sentenced to seven months in prison," said Chief Justice of the South Jakarta District Court I Dewa Made Budi Watsara as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 4.
The judge stated that Dito Mahendra had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the crime of storing firearms and ammunition without permission as indicted by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
The panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court considered the aggravating thing for Dito Mahendra, namely that the defendant was aware of the legality of the storage of firearms and ammunition but the defendant was negligent and ignored because there were several firearms and ammunition that did not have a permit.
"Meanwhile, the mitigating factors for the defendant did not make it difficult and facilitate the trial, the defendant was still young and had never been convicted," said the judge.
"In addition, the defendant generally has a license to own a firearm. The defendant is a member of Perbakin and a group shooting, and the defendant has properly stored firearms and ammunition," he said.
The Panel of Judges also stipulates that the period of arrest and detention of the defendant is reduced entirely from the sentence imposed.
"Ordered that the defendant Mahendra Dito Sampurno be immediately removed from custody," he said.
