Floods Hit Jorong, The Prosperity Of Sinuruik Talamau, West Pasaman

MORE than one hundred houses in Jorong Kemumuran Nagari (Village) Sinuruik, Talamau District, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra were flooded as high as 1.20 meters due to overflowing river water after heavy rains flushed the area.

"The overflow came from the Batang Taluak Ambun River. The water rose to the residents' homes at around 19:00 WIB when residents were still breaking their fast," said Wali Nagari (Head of the Village) Sinuruik Frianton, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 3.

According to him, currently residents whose houses are flooded are still trapped in their respective homes because of the difficulty of crossing deep and heavy water.

"The temporary information is that more than 100 housing units have been flooded and the information is that some houses have been washed away. We have difficulty providing assistance," he said.

His party really needs rubber boats to evacuate residents trapped in their homes.

"We have coordinated with the sub-district and West Pasaman BPBD but until 20.00 WIB the aid team has not arrived. Possibly on the way," he said.

Currently, the ranks of nagari devices can only monitor residents' houses that are flooded. For assistance, it cannot be distributed because of the difficulty of hitting the water.

He hopes that assistance from related parties will soon arrive, especially rubber boats that are needed to evacuate flood victims.

"Hopefully the water will recede soon and we can provide assistance to flood victims," he said.
