3.5 Million Vehicles Will Cross The Tangerang-Merak Toll Road During The 2024 Eid Homecoming

PT Astra Toll Nusantara (Astra Infra) predicts that 3.5 million vehicles will pass the Tangerang-Merak toll road during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period.

"It is estimated that 3.5 million vehicles will go through the Tangerang-Merak toll road. This figure is up 3.6 percent compared to 2023," said Head of the Astra Infra Group Rinaldi Lebaran Task Force on the agenda of 'Media Gathering Infrastructure Readiness Supports Eid Al-Fitr 2024 Homecoming' at the GranDhika Hotel, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, April 3.

Based on the data presented, a number of other toll roads are also predicted to increase during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period.

For the Cikopo-Palimanan Toll Road, as many as 2.1 million vehicles are estimated to pass or increase by 2.2 percent compared to last year, the Jombang-Mojokerto Toll Road rose 5.2 percent to 1.2 million vehicles compared to 2023.

Still referring to this data, the peak number of vehicle traffic looks different for each toll road. For the Tangerang-Merak toll road, the peak number of homecoming vehicles is estimated at 179,000 vehicles per day on Wednesday, April 3.

As for the Cikopo-Palimanan Toll Road, the number of vehicle peaks is estimated to reach 123,000 vehicles per day on Saturday, April 6. The peak of the Jombang Mojokerto Toll Road is predicted to occur on Monday, April 8, with a total of 71,000 vehicles.

Rinaldi said, based on this data, it can be seen that the distribution of the number of vehicles on each toll road managed by his party is different. This indicates that the behavior on each toll road is not the same. "So everyone's preferences are not the same," he said.

Furthermore, Rinaldi said, his party would make three efforts to overcome traffic congestion during the 2024 homecoming period.

First, data-based traffic settings. Astra Infra will complement more than 500 CCTV units and seven traffic counters on three managed toll roads. This is to support the implementation of traffic scenarios to support the smooth running of traffic.

Second, anticipate the traffic density in the crossing with all stakeholders. He explained that Astra Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak prepared a traffic scenario at the Cikupa toll gate (GT), rest area KM 43 A and rest area KM 68A.

"If there is a traffic density at Merak Crossing Port by delaying the system," he said.

In this effort, said Rinaldi, his party will also conduct socialization on social media channels, messages on variable messages and announcements in rest areas. Road users who want to cross at Merak Port are also advised to buy crossing tickets online at counters available in the rest area.

The third or final effort is to anticipate traffic congestion at the resting place.

His party continues to urge road users to rest after driving a maximum of four hours. However, with the high flow of traffic and anticipation of rest area density, users are expected to have alternative roads to rest outside toll roads.

"If you decide to leave the toll road to rest, it will not increase the cost of toll rates from road users," he added.
