Israeli Arrested In Malaysia Pays IDR 32 Million Per Pistol
JAKARTA - An Israeli man, SALom Avitan, who was caught in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (27/3), paid more than 10,000 Malaysian ringgit (RM) or more than Rp32 million to buy a gun from a Malaysian husband and wife.
"What RM10,000 pays is more than that," said Malaysian Police Chief IG Tan Sri Razarudin Husain in a statement to the media as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 2.
Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) arrested a husband and wife in question at the Ramadan Bazar in Kuala Selangor some time ago. And from the results of the investigation of the two, he said, it was known that their firearms were smuggled from Thailand.
However, for the purposes of the investigation, Razarudin could not reveal to the media how the Israeli communicated and bought six pistols and 200 bullets from a married couple from Malaysians.
He acknowledged that there were weaknesses and vacancies in security surveillance on the border between Malaysia and Thailand which caused various smuggling issues including firearms.
He said the kilometers were not fenced in Kelantan, only by the river, becoming a place prone to smuggling. In the seventh season the river can just be crossed without using a boat.
"We are still trying to make sure there are no smugglings, anything, either firearms or drugs," he said.

He said he was still enforcing the law to ensure no smuggling, either smuggling from Thailand to Malaysia or vice versa.
Avitan, according to Razarudin, is known to have only entered Malaysia this time. Before entering through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with a French passport on March 12, 2024, it was discovered that the Israeli entered Thailand.
Just on Tuesday (27/3), Malaysian Royal Police arrested Avitan at a hotel on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, and found six pistols and 200 bullets in the bag in the room.
