Prabowo Affirms To PM Li Qiang RI-China Complementing Each Other

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto emphasized to Chinese Prime Minister (PM) Li Qiang Indonesia and China that they are two complementary countries.

During the meeting with Li Qiang, Prabowo said that he deliberately came directly to China to convey his intention and desire to increase cooperation between the two countries that have now been closely established.

"I came to my intention to convey my desire and hope to improve friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries," Prabowo told Li Qiang when the two met in Beijing, China, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 2.

The visit to the office of the Prime Minister of China is the second agenda in Beijing after he met Chinese President Xi Jinping, Monday (1/4). China is Prabowo's first overseas visit after he was appointed by the Indonesian KPU as a presidential candidate for the Republic of Indonesia on March 20, 2024.

During his meeting, Prabowo also said that Indonesia and China had complementary ties.

"We see that the complementary relationship between China and Indonesia is a reality that we are very grateful for, for our friendship and trust," said Defense Minister Prabowo.

In the same meeting, PM Li assessed that Prabowo's visit to China was proof of the close relationship between the two countries. For Li, Indonesia and China have succeeded in maintaining close cooperation, and the two countries are ready to open a new chapter in maintaining the partnership.

PM Li to Prabowo also emphasized his country's commitment to continue to work together and maintain mutual trust between Indonesia and China. He said China is ready to communicate more intensely with Indonesia and sit together with Indonesia in multilateral forums such as the United Nations and other cooperation mechanisms in the region to maintain the interests of developing countries in a better direction.

During his visit to China, Prabowo met with President Xi, PM Li, and Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun.
