193.6 Million Community Movements During Eid 2024, Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: A Legitimate Figure
JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi emphasized that the prediction figure for the movement of people during the Lebaran 2024 holiday reached 193.6 million people from surveys that could be accounted for.
"I need to emphasize that the survey of 193.6 million (predict the movement of people during Eid al-Fitr 2024), is God willing, it is a legitimate survey," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 2.
According to Budi, this figure is a number that can be justified because the research is through competent institutions and parties.
The Ministry of Transportation through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT) together with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Ministry of Communication and Information, Telkomsel, transportation experts, and academics have conducted a survey of passenger movements, with the results of 193.6 million Indonesians potentially traveling back and forth.
"Because we are assisted by BPS, which does have experience in surveying, assisted by Kominfo, and survey institutions. And last year 123 million, we checked together with Telkom companies, the figure is more than 123 million," said Budi.
According to Budi, Indonesia's population movement wave is predicted to reach 193.6 million people, most of whom are agglomeration travelers.
"The number of 193.6 million is also agglomeration homecoming (certain areas). So they go to Bogor, or Yogyakarta to Klaten, and so on," said Budi.
Previously, Budi suggested that people who wanted to return to their hometowns should go home for Eid Al-Fitr 2024 early and so did when they returned to do it at the latest.
The Ministry of Transportation predicts that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on D-4 to D-2 Lebaran. Therefore, he suggested that people should go home immediately before the peak of the backflow.
"Our recommendation is homecoming on D-5 and beyond. We know the children's leave on April 4-16, so it is possible to return home early later," said Budi.
Budi also ensured that he had taken various steps and maximum efforts to serve the community during the transportation of homecoming and back to Lebaran in all transverse modes of transportation.

The Ministry of Transportation has prepared the best possible in dealing with Lebaran homecoming transportation, both from the feasibility of operations (ramp check) for transportation vehicles and other facilities and infrastructure.
"In our coordination with Kakorlantas, we will do it more intensely and even later Kakorlantas will say when one direction (one way) will be carried out or take part of the route from the opposite direction (contraflow)," explained Budi.
In addition, coordinating with cross-sectors includes setting up a homecoming post which will be opened on April 3-18, so that people who go home can reach their hometowns even when they return home are safe and comfortable.
"The Moment of Eid al-Fitr is to prepare carefully, carefully. And we welcome it by coordinating it to the provision of fuel and other transportation services," said Budi.
