Russia: Israeli Attack On Iranian Consulate Violates International Law

JAKARTA - Israel's deadly attack on the Iranian Consulate General in the Syrian capital, Damascus, is a violation of international law and "action of aggression", said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We will not draw any conclusions, but after all, such attacks constitute violations of all grounds of international law and an act of aggression," Peskov said.

On Monday (1/4), Israel carried out airstrikes on the building of the Iranian Consulate General in Damascus to destroy the building.

The IRGC Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the attack killed two IRGC generals and five soldiers.

Iran's foreign ministry has threatened Israel with a counter-attack.

Iran's envoy to the United Nations has sent a letter to the UN Security Council asking the Council to hold a hearing regarding the Israeli attack.
