Shin Tae-yong Talks About Targets In The 2024 U-23 Asian Cup
JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, talked about the target in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. He answered realisticly.
The South Korean coach did not want to boast. The most important thing, according to him, is not to stop trying to give his best.
As is known, Indonesia U-23 is in Group A with Qatar, Australia, and Jordan in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

Responding to the target, Shin admitted that he would do his best. On the other hand, he also cannot give a definite answer because he is aware that he is only an ordinary person and cannot predict events in the future.

"I'm not God, so I'm trying my best to get good results. Now Indonesian football is progressing and the journey is still far away. So, I can't determine what our targets are and I can't be sure I can reach that target," said Shin Tae-yong on Monday, April 1, 2024.
The target of the U-23 Indonesian national team to qualify for the top four is not without a purpose. If later Garuda Muda can advance to this target, it means that there is an opportunity for Shin's team to go to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Asia gets three and a half tickets to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Three of the best teams get automatic tickets to France, while the fourth-placed team has to go through a play-off against representatives from Africa.
In addition, the results of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup will also be one of the benchmarks for Shin Tae-yong's contract extension.
Related to this, the South Korean coach admitted that he had spoken to the PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir.
"Indeed, at this time there are good discussions with Pak Erick (Thohir). We continue to talk about how Indonesian football develops," he said.
Shin Tae-yong's contract will actually expire on June 30, 2024. Previously, he received a contract extension six months after cooperation with PSSI expired in December 2023.
