Landslides Close Sukabumi-Bogor Liaison Road

SUKABUMI - A landslide that occurred in Palagantalang Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java (West Java), closed the Sukabumi-Bogor connecting road.

"Until now, joint officers are still cleaning up the remaining landslides and covering the national road which is a connecting Sukabumi-Bogor," said Parungkuda District Disaster Management Officer (P2BK) Sukabumi Regency Iwan Darmawan at the scene, reported by ANTARA, Monday, April 1.

From observations at the location, dozens of joint officers struggled to open the main road access connecting Sukabumi-Bogor. Heavy equipment has also arrived at the location to speed up the process of evacuating the land that blocked the highway.

Until 21.00 WIB, the road, which is located at RT 04/06, Bojongkokosan Village, Parungkuda District, cannot be passed by vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled or more.

It was observed that small landslides were still happening at the scene, joint officers were advised to be alert to anticipate further landslides.

According to Iwan, the landslide disaster that closed the main route connecting Sukabumi-Bogor was due to bad weather, such as heavy rain from morning to late afternoon, which caused the cliff soil around the Bojongkosan Palagan to become unstable and eventually collapsed.

"There were no casualties, but what we are wary of is further landslides that could cause damage and casualties or lives," he said.

In handling traffic flow, his party cooperates with the Sukabumi Police Traffic Unit to divert vehicles, both leading to Sukabumi and Bogor.

After the incident, there was a buildup of vehicles from two directions because the road could not be passed by any vehicle.

For cliffs that landslide about 10 to 15 meters, because the shoulder of the road both on the left and right, there is a cliff and landslides often occur.
