Consumption Of Night Snacks Is Needed During Fasting To Meet Nutrition Needs In A Day

JAKARTA - nutritionist dr. Luciana Sutanto MS, Sp.GK said that eating snacks at night is needed to meet nutritional needs in a day when fasting.

"Small food or night snacks need to be consumed in order to meet the daily nutritional needs," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

He said that fruits, nuts, or milk in a non-excessive portion can be consumed as snacks at night.

The doctor who graduated from the University of Indonesia stated the importance of fulfilling nutritional needs to prevent attacks of diseases such as flu and cough, which can long recover if the body is not fit.

"Usually, you can recover for a long time if your body condition is not fit, while the weather is now cooler. Especially if you are accompanied by allergies, sinusitis, and low immunity," he said.

In order to maintain the immune system during fasting, Luciana said, it is better to strive for nutritional needs to be met by eating foods with balanced nutrition during breaking the fast or sahur.

Eating staples, side dishes, vegetables, and fruit that contain carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals at dawn and break the fast will help keep the body fit during fasting.

In addition, Luciana said, adequate rest and avoiding being close to sick people is also needed to avoid the risk of disease transmission.

"To prevent transmission from happening again, avoid getting close to people who are sick with cough flu, and wash your hands frequently," he said.

If during fasting you get flu and cough that doesn't heal after two days, Luciana says, then you should consult a doctor so you can get the medical assistance you need.
