Indonesian Entrance Tourists Reach 1.03 Million Visits In February 2024, Most From Malaysia
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia during February 2024 was 1.03 million.
Acting Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said the number of visits in February 2024 increased by 11.67 percent compared to January 2024 and an increase of 38.24 percent compared to last year.
In detail, foreign tourists who enter through the main entrance are 890,860 visits, while through the border entrance as many as 145,173 visits.
"Thus, the total number of foreign tourist visits in February 2024 is 1.03 million visits," he said in the BPS Release, Monday, April 1, 2024.
Meanwhile, if cumulatively, namely January-February 2024, BPS noted that the number of foreign tourist visits reached 1.96 million visits or an increase of 26.87 percent compared to the same period last year.
"Even so, the accumulation of foreign tourists is still relatively lower than the same period before the pandemic, namely January-February 2019 and 2020," he explained.
Despite continuing to recover and increase, Amalia said, the cumulative total foreign tourist visits in the first two months of 2024 were still relatively lower than the same period before the pandemic.

Meanwhile, before the Covid-19 pandemic, the total number of foreign tourists visiting from January to February 2019 reached 2.44 million, and from January to February 2020 it reached 2.16 million.
On the other hand, according to nationality, Malaysia ranks first with the most foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in February 2024.
Amalia conveyed that the number of foreign tourist visits from Malaysia reached 214,100 visits, Singapore reached 112,800 visits, followed by China 105,300 visits, Australia, 101,600 visits, and India 47,900 visits.
