BPS Records Annual Inflation Reach 3.05 Percent In March 2024

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that inflation in March 2024 reached 3.05 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy).

The Consumer Price Index (JCI) in March 2024 will be 106.13 compared to February 2024 of 105.58.

Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that annual inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indexes.

Amalia detailed that the price increase shown by the increase in most expenditure group indexes came from food, beverage and tobacco groups by 7.43 percent, clothing and footwear groups by 0.89 percent, housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.55 percent.

"The household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group is 1.03 percent, the health group is 2.17 percent, the transportation group is 0.99 percent," he explained in a BPS release, Monday, April 1, 2024.

Amalia said, then from the recreation, sports and culture groups by 1.62 percent, the education group by 1.70 percent, the food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 2.51 percent, and other personal care and services groups by 3.56 percent.

According to Amalia, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in the index, namely information, communication, and financial services groups, was 0.13 percent.

The monthly inflation rate or month to month (mom) in March 2024 is 0.52 percent and the year to date (ytd) inflation rate in March 2024 is 0.93 percent.

Furthermore, the year on year inflation rate of the March 2024 core component is 1.77 percent, monthly inflation is 0.23 percent, and inflation year to date is 0.57 percent.
