Thursday Afternoon, Prabowo Gibran's Attorney Responds To The 2024 Presidential Election Dispute

JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) held a follow-up hearing on the 2024 presidential election dispute today, Thursday, March 28. The agenda for the trial is the response from the KPU, Bawaslu and the Prabowo-Gibran Legal Team.

They will respond to a lawsuit filed by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD. Based on the MKRI website, the trial of the two cases will be held starting at 13.00 WIB.

"The trial schedule is: Thursday, March 28, 2024, 13.00 WIB," as quoted on the official website of the Constitutional Court.

The KPU is the respondent, while Prabowo-Gibran is the relevant party in the 2024 presidential election dispute.

Meanwhile, in Anies and Ganjar's lawsuit, only eight judges will take part in the trial. Judge Anwar Usman was prohibited from hearing the 2024 presidential election dispute due to serious ethical violations related to the decision that passed his nephew, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as vice president.

With the composition of eight judges, decision making will be carried out through deliberation and consensus of the judges. If they do not reach deliberation and consensus, eight judges will vote or vote.

"What if there is 4-4, for example? Well, there in Article 45 paragraph (8) it is said that the judge's voice is the same, so the decision of the Constitutional Court is that the voice of the chairman of the plenary session is there," said MK spokesman Fajar Laksono.

Previously, Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud sued the results of the 2024 presidential election to Mk because they did not accept the decision of the General Elections Commission (KPU) regarding the vote count results won by Prabowo-Gibran.

In the KPU's decision, Prabowo-Gibran won with 96,214,691 votes or 58.6 percent of the national valid votes. Meanwhile, Anies-Muhaimin won 40,971,906 votes or 24.9 percent of the national valid votes. Then Ganjar-Mahfud got 27,040,878 votes or 16.5 percent of the national valid votes.

The vote count results were then ratified in KPU Decree No. 360 of 2024.
