DIY Police Prepares Scheme To Anticipate The Density Of Eid Homecoming 2024
YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta Special Region Police will prepare a scheme to anticipate traffic congestion in this province during the 2024 Eid period.
Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan said a number of steps would be prepared to welcome travelers in DIY, which is estimated to reach 6 percent of the total national travelers.
"Those are the new homecomings, not those who go home to Java continue to travel to Yogyakarta. This is what we are calculating," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.
According to Suwondo, the anticipation scheme will be discussed with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X on Monday (1/4).
Next on Tuesday (2/4), his party will prepare technical steps with all stakeholders in DIY.
In the anticipatory scheme, according to Suwondo, it will lead to three main aspects, namely ensuring that the community is safe and comfortable in carrying out worship.
"Second, it is safe in traffic and activities. Third, guarantee the availability of basic commodities," he said.

Suwondo admitted that he had received direct directions from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto to ensure that religious activities in DIY run conducively by involving various components of society.
"The directive remains conducive so that religious activities continue to run as well as possible," he said.
Ahead of the 2024 Lebaran homecoming flow, said Suwondo, traffic engineering efforts will be prepared to adjust needs in the field, including preventing potential accidents in a number of routes that are considered vulnerable.
"We will definitely do 'contra-flow' or for example, we arrange a lot of incoming flows to make them lighter so that those who enter will find it easier when they are released are dynamic," he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Transportation projected that there were 193.6 million people or 71.7 percent of the total population traveling back and forth during the Eid 2024 period.
