Toyota Will Mass Production Of Electricity Hilux By The End Of 2025

JAKARTA - Recently, Toyota confirmed a new plan to mass-produce electric hilux pickup trucks by the end of 2025.

The company said the Hilux could be ready by the end of next year, but they did not specify where the vehicle would be assembled. However, it is likely that the car will be produced in Thailand given the high demand for the pickup.

"In Thailand, Toyota estimates it could sell 250,000 vehicles this year," said Thailand's Noriaki Yamashita, President of Toyota Motor.

In addition, the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country took place massively and was led by a number of Chinese electrification players, such as BYD, Changan Automobile, and Great Wall Motors (GWM).

This news comes a few days after the Thai government said the company's rival, Isuzu, would assemble an electric-powered D-Max pickup car in Thailand in 2025.

Earlier in December 2022, Toyota had introduced the concept of Hilux Revo BEV which is likely to be the forerunner of the power-powered Hilux. This model is displayed as a step of the company's commitment to providing more environmentally friendly vehicle options.

However, Toyota does not only want to be fixated on one technology. The manufacturer implemented a multi-path strategy by presenting a prototype version of the hydrogen fuel-powered Hilux developed at Toyota's Burnaston plant in the UK.
