Inka Officially Operates New Generation Economic Trains

JAKARTA - The series of trains (KA) "New Generation" or the new generation of economic classes of the Majapahit train, the connection between Pasar Senen-Malang Station (Pulang Pergi) produced by PT INKA (Persero) is officially operated by PT KAI (Persero) starting Monday, March 25, 2024, to add train transportation services for the community.

Senior Manager of Public Relations and Representative Office of PT INKA (Persero) Agung Dwi Cahyono said the line-up of the train was using a K3 (Economic) train with stainless steel, consisting of 8 economy class trains, 1 train, and 1 generator train.

"The increase in trains in this economic class is a good synergy between SOEs in the railway sector. We are proud of the inauguration of the Majapahit New Generation train operation. This is certainly an extraordinary synergy between PT INKA (Persero) and PT KAI (Persero) to improve services to loyal train customers, especially the economic class," Agung quoted Antara.

Agung said that the increase in facilities in economic class trains was very significant from the previous generation, especially in the seat section.

The economic train, which was previously with a capacity of 106 seats with 3-2 formations, is upright and facing each other. Meanwhile, the current capacity of the New Generation economic train is 72 seats so that the distance between seats becomes more flexible with the 2-2 formation.

The chair can also be adjusted to the tilt of the chair or "reclining" and rotated according to the speed direction of the train or "revolving".

He added that another advantage of the New Generation Economic Train is that it is equipped with an automatic electric door at both passenger entrances and inter-train doors or "bordes".

Then, the "gangway" on trains uses a "corrugated hollow" which was able to reduce the noise better than the use of a "rubber belly" on previous economic trains.

"This train series is also equipped with facilities for prayer places and ablution so that passengers can be more comfortable in carrying out prayers while traveling," he said.

Not only that, every train has been embedded with the Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) to provide information on the way. As well as equipped with CCTV on each train so that it can add a sense of security to passengers.

There are also two separate toilets between men and women to provide convenience to customers.

"On the New Generation economic train, it is not only an updated passenger train. The train is also updated to be more luxurious with premium batik patterned interiors with wood accents and more elegant lighting, so passengers will be more comfortable and feel a different impression even on economic class trains," said Agung.
