JAKARTA - Electric cars are now increasingly in demand in Indonesia. The trend of interest is increasing as awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.

Most EVs are still on sale in new circumstances and are very rare to find or sell in used conditions. What causes the deployment of used electric cars not as massive as pure-fueled cars (ICE)?

Responding to this, JBA Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Deny Gunawan said the seller did not want to include electric vehicles in the used vehicle exchange because the depreciation value was quite large because it depended on the age of the battery guarantee.

This electric vehicle is similar to a cellphone between Android and Iphone. Between the two, Android does not have an indicator of battery health while the iPhone is there so that the buyer can check if the condition is good, so he dares to buy it," said Deny on the sidelines of an event with the media in Mampang, Monday, March 25.

Thus, buyers will think twice about buying electric vehicles. However, for electric cars it has a long warranty period so that consumers are still considering buying it

"Fortunately, if there is an electric car with a warranty for a long time, so if he is in the range of 1-2 years, he is still good," added Deny.

However, different cases are experienced in the battery-based two-wheeled vehicle segment. Deny explained, most electric motors have a short warranty period, which is 1-2 years, so the depreciation value is lower than that of four wheels.

"Electric cars can be 20-30 percent depreciated, but if the motorbike has passed the warranty period it can be above 50 percent because most of it exceeds the battery guarantee period," concluded Deny.
