Facing Homecoming, The Provincial Government Targets Damaged Roads Due To Central Java Floods To Be Completed D-7 Lebaran 2024

JATENG - The Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) targets the repair of damaged provincial roads due to floods and landslides in Central Java to be completed on D-7 or seven days before Eid 2024.

Head of the Public Works, Highways and Cipta Karya Office of Central Java, Hanung Triyono, said that there are indeed many provincial roads damaged by flooding in eastern areas, such as Grobogan, Demak, and Kudus.

"For repairing provincial roads, we are waiting after receding. After receding, we will carry out repairs by patching the hole. Later, the D-7 Lebaran will be completed," he said in Semarang, Central Java, Monday, February 25, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the roads damaged by the flood were estimated to reach 100 kilometers which were divided into various spots, including the Purwodadi Grobogan, Jati-Klambu, and Kudus-Margoyoso Rings.

Repairing the road, he said, was carried out with asphalting, namely by patching damaged or potholed roads.

Apart from repairing roads affected by flooding, he said, the Central Java Provincial Government is also repairing roads in other sections in various regions.

"We are also carrying out 'overlay' work, there are almost 40 km spread across Central Java. That is for the convenience of road users during Eid," he said.

As for national roads, he said, such as the Pantura Demak road, repairs are also being carried out.

"The improvement of the Pantura road has started, which works on the main hall (Balai Besar Implementation of the Central Java-DIY National Road, ed.). The target is D-10 Lebaran," he said.

He explained that the identified national road was badly damaged in the Tanggulangin-Karianganyar Demak area, with a length of approximately 5 km.

Hanung said that during road repairs, information signs would be installed for the public regarding road repairs and appealed to residents to drive carefully.

"Don't speed up, especially when it rains. The road is covered by water, we don't know if there is a hole underneath or not. Not only provincial roads, national roads, even district/city roads are like that," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of Central Java Nana Sudjana said he would hold a coordination meeting with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Ministry of PUPR.

During the meeting, he said, discussed efforts to resolve the embankment problem, repair damaged houses, repair of damaged main roads, and repair of sanitation.

"Currently we are collecting data on all data, including roads and community housing. In due course, we will coordinate it immediately to be repaired," he said.

"Moreover, main roads, national roads that are really needed for the community, especially in the near future there will be homecoming and backflow," he concluded.
