The Public Health Of Bawean Earthquake Victims Is Well Monitored
The Health Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health said the condition of the earthquake victims on Bawean Island, Gresik, East Java, who live in four evacuation points in Sangkapura District and 15 evacuation points in Tambak District, was observed to be in good condition."The public only needs attention for special foods for infants, toddlers and pregnant women. Medicines, biscuits and milk have been provided but they still need additional attention to reach all targets," said Head of the Health Crisis Center, Sumarjaya, in a statement received in Surabaya, Antara, Sunday, March 24.Jaya said residents are still sleeping in the front yard of the house for fear of another shock. They only go in to cook and go to the bathroom or to the toilet.Meanwhile, the availability of health workers feels less than meeting the needs in the field.The Health Crisis Center continues to monitor public health conditions on Bawean Island. Until now, one person has received diabetes, three high blood pressure, two stomach pain, three headaches, and seven traumas. "We hope that there will be assistance from volunteer health workers from various parties,” he said.Jaya explained that the puskesmas, poskesdes and auxiliary health centers are always prepared at their respective locations. Several teams went to the field to check the condition of the people who gathered on the side of the road, in front of their respective homes."Easible access to health service locations and the availability of medicines makes people feel safer," he said.Meanwhile, the Health Emergency Operation Canter (HEOC) Data & Information Coordinator, Anik Luthfiyah said that what needed to be identified was the damage to buildings and equipment affected by the earthquake at Umar Mas’ud Hospital located in Sangkapura District."There may be something that can be repaired, there are also those that need to be replaced because they are badly damaged. Currently, the patients who are taken out of the treatment room are placed in the front hallway of the hospital,” said Anik Luthfiyah.
To maintain endurance, his party submitted a request for additional food (PMT) for pregnant women and toddlers to the provincial government.
