The Construction Of Toll Roads In IKN Is Speeded, How Far Is The Progress?

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways is speeding up the work of the IKN toll road, namely Balikpapan-Samarinda (Baalsam) as one of the basic infrastructure projects in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

The Balsam Toll Road itself is one of the accesses that connects the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN with the surrounding area. The construction of the IKN Toll Road itself is divided into several stages, which for stage 1 runs in 3 sections.

The three sections in question are Section 3A (Karangjoang-Kriangau Summit), Section 3B (KKT Kariangau-Simpang Tempadung) and Section 5A (City Intersection-Bridge Bridge Balang Island).

Based on information in the upload of the official Instagram account of the Directorate General of Highways PUPR @pupr_binamarga, Wednesday, March 20, specifically, it was stated that the progress of the construction of Section 5A of the IKN Toll Road project had reached 77.8 percent.

The length of handling this section based on the total contract is 6.67 kilometers (km).

Even so, this development process also encountered various obstacles, such as land acquisition and the need for additional asphalt equipment.

"To follow up, deliberation is carried out with land owners and additional asphalting equipment," wrote the statement from the Directorate General of Highways in his upload.

In addition to Section 5A of the Tempadung-Bandang Intersection of Balang Island, the work on the Balsam Toll Road itself has been carried out in two other sections, namely Section 3A Karangjoang-Kriangau Summit and Section 3B KKT Kariangau-Tradung Intersection.

For your information, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that there is a road network connecting the City of Balikpapan with the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN in North Penajam Paser, mainly crossing the IKN Toll Road and the Balang Island Bridge.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono also targets the toll road network to be completed in July 2024.

"Continue to pay attention and ensure the quality, because the quality of the IKN Toll Road must be better than other toll roads that we have built. In July 2024 it must be completed for Phase 1 and can be operated," Minister Basuki said in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, January 19.

In Phase 1, the construction of the IKN Toll Road is currently running on three sections, namely Section 3A Karangjoang-KKT Kariangau with a progress of 48 percent.

Section 3B KKT Kariangau-Tempang Tempadung intersection with progress of 57 percent and Section 5A Simpang Tempadung-Jembatan Pulau Balang along 6.7 km with progress of 67 percent. These three sections are targeted to be completed and functional in July 2024.

Meanwhile, Section 6A Riko- Outer Ring Road IKN and Section 6B ITCI Outer Ring Road-Simpang 3 Outer Plan have now started land acquisition and construction with a progress of 4.8 percent in Section 6A and 17.5 percent in Section 6B.
