6 Indonesian Citizens In A Luxury Watch Robbery Gang In Hong Kong Arrested, The Indonesian Consulate General Asks For Access To Communication
Six Indonesian citizens were arrested by the Hong Kong Police (HKPF) for allegedly being involved in a sharp armed robbery at a luxury watch shop in the Causeway Bay area.
Based on HKPF information, Judha said, four of the six Indonesian citizens were detained at the HKPF correctional facility, while the other two people were released with guarantees. "Four Indonesian citizens have conveyed consent, while two others have not provided consent for the consular access of the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong," said Judha. The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong continues to coordinate with HKPF to obtain more complete information and ensure that the Indonesian citizens get consular access for those who provide consent and legal assistance rights in accordance with applicable regulations. Judha said that the crime of robbery of luxury watch shops has occurred in Hong Kong in the last three years. HKPF suspects that the various robbery crimes were carried out by syndicates. The arrests were carried out by HKPF on February 28, 2024 after the six Indonesian citizens robbed 25 units of hours worth six million Hong Kong dollars (around Rp. 12 billion).

Based on police information, the six Indonesian citizens arrested consisted of three women and three men aged between 26 and 35 years. Hong Kong police said four of the six Indonesian citizens had exceeded the stay permit period, while one Indonesian citizen claimed to have committed torture. Hong Kong police confirmed that robbery is a serious crime and they will do everything they can to try the perpetrators, regardless of citizenship or immigration status of the perpetrators.
