Searches For 19 Crew Members Yuiee Jaya II In Selayar Waters, South Sulawesi Extended By 3 Days
SAR operations to search for crew members KM Yuiee Jaya II who drowned in the waters of Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel), were extended for the next 3 days.
Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Makassar Basarnas Office who is also the OSC (on scene coordinator) at the SAR operation Yuiee Jaya II, Andi Sultan said the search for crew members who were victims of the fishing vessel accident had entered the 7th day on Monday, March 18. Based on the Basarnas SOP, the search for victims was carried out for a maximum of 7 days. However, because there are still 19 victims who have not been found, the SAR operation has been extended.
"We will extend the SAR operation for the next three days," said Andi Sultan.
Sultan said that until now there are three search rescue units conducting searches at several location points which are divided into three sectors. The search has also been expanded to 147 nautical miles (NM).
The joint SAR team has also combed empty islands, such as Sane Sane Island, Jailamu Island, Polassi Island, and the southern part of Nambolaki Island.
"With the addition of the next 3 days, the search will be maximized. Hopefully 19 victims can be found," said Andi Sultan.
Until the 7th day of the SAR operation for the victims of the Yuiee Jaya II ship crash, 12 survivors have been found, four people have died, and 19 people are still being searched.
The 12 survivors, namely Dian Kurniawan, Amirrulhak, Zaki Vomika, Waryen, Tahmid, Amiluddin, Adi good Panuntun, Septo Guntoro, Maulana Dwi Anggoro, Sun Hen Lakis, Muzakkir Lakis, and Amat Subechan.
