Supported By XRP Community, Crypto Lawyer John Deaton Against Senator Elizabeth Warren

JAKARTA - John Deaton, a lawyer known for often supporting XRP, is seeking to raise $1 million for his Senate campaign which is due to end on March 31. Deaton, which has donated USD 500,000 (approximately IDR 7.8 billion) from its personal pockets, faces heavy obstacles in raising campaign funds to compete with incumbent Senator Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts.

Warren himself is recorded as having election campaign funds of around US$3.9 million (around Rp61.1 billion). This is a figure far above Deaton's campaign fund. Warren is a tough opponent for Deaton.

Even so, Deaton was not afraid. Intending to overthrow Warren, Deaton started his campaign in hopes of getting support from the public, especially the crypto community. Financial problems are one of the main obstacles in politics, especially in Senate battles that cost more than Council contests.

Quoted from CCN, although Deaton is a newcomer to the world of politics, he has gained support from the XRP community, especially during the legal battle between Ripple and the SEC. Famous figures in the crypto space, such as Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, and Ethereum's former adviser Steven Nerayoff, have donated funds to the Deaton campaign.

On the other hand, Senator Elizabeth Warren has attracted attention due to her critical attitude towards the digital asset industry, which has made her hostile to the crypto community. Warren has proposed a bipartisan law aimed at tightening oversight of money laundering through crypto assets.

Even so, Deaton hopes to take advantage of the available momentum to raise the necessary funds. He invited the public to participate in his campaign, stressing that freedom is a top priority in his struggle. Now, the public eye is focused on Deaton and Warren, waiting for the outcome of a political battle that will determine the future direction of crypto policy in the United States.
