Ministry Of Transportation Predicts Peak Homecoming Flows To Occur On D-2 And Back In D+3 Eid Al-Fitr 2024
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT) predicts that the peak of the 2024 Eid homecoming flow will occur on D-2 or Monday 8 April. Meanwhile, the peak of backflow on D+3 or April 14.
Head of BKT Robby Kurniawan said the prediction was the result of a survey of the potential for the 2024 Eid transportation movement which was carried out in 38 provinces and involved 48,107 respondents.
From the results of this survey, continued Robby, 13.74 percent or 26.67 million people will travel during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period.
"Nationally, the most people going home on D-2 Lebaran," he said in a virtual press conference, Sunday, March 17.
Robby said that apart from H-2, some people also choose to leave on April 3 or 7 and D-4 or April 5.
"So starting from D-3 to D-4 it was quite high. Starting from D-4 there were 23.2 million who chose to start going home," he said.
Meanwhile, continued Robby, backflow is expected to occur on D+3 Eid al-Fitr or April 14, 2024. The total movement reaches 40.99 million.

The number even reached 33.56 million or 17.33 percent.
Based on a survey conducted by BKT, he said, the number of people who will travel on this year's Eid holiday reached 193.6 million people.
This number increased 71.7 percent from 2023 which was recorded at 123.8 million.
"So there is a potential for a large enough increase for the travelers themselves," he explained.
