Ministry Of Transportation Predicts Potential Community Movement During Eid 2024 Capai 193.6 Million People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation revealed that based on the results of a survey conducted by the Transportation Policy Agency, the movement of people nationally during Lebaran 2024 has the potential to reach 71.7 percent of the total population of Indonesia or 193.6 million people.

This figure has increased compared to the potential for community movement during the Eid 2023 period, namely 123.8 million people. The results of this survey have been reported to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and have been informed to relevant stakeholders such as ministries/agencies, local governments, Korlantas Polri, BUMN and the private sector.

The survey was conducted in collaboration with the Central Statistics Agency, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and involved experts and academics in the transportation sector.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi conveyed that based on the survey results, it can be seen that there is a trend of increasing the potential for community movement in the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 2024. He also admitted that he had taken preparatory steps to anticipate the surge in community movement.

"Looking at the picture of these conditions, we are taking steps to prepare both operationally and in policies in controlling, regulating transportation, and handling comprehensively with the Ministry of Agriculture and institutions agencies at the central government, local governments, BUMN, and private parties," said Budi Karya, in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 12.

Referring to the survey results, Budi said that there are three regions from which the most travel came from, namely East Java at 16.2 percent or 31.3 million people. Then, followed by Jabodetabek at 14.7 percent or 28.43 million people and Central Java at 13.5 percent or 26.11 million people.

"For the most destination areas, namely Central Java, it is 31.8 percent or 61.6 million people; East Java is 19.4 percent or 37.6 million people and West Java is 16.6 percent or 32.1 million people," he said.

Budi said the estimated peak of the homecoming day based on the choice of the community was D-2 or Monday, April 8, 2024 or when the joint leave was started with a potential movement of 26.6 million people or 13.7 percent.

"Meanwhile, the estimated peak of the return day is D+3, namely Sunday, April 14, 2024 with a potential movement of 41 million people or 21.2 percent," he explained.
