Pasar Jaya Ensures Cheap Basic Foods Are Available Ahead Of National Religious Holidays

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to strengthen its commitment to help ease the burden on residents ahead of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN), especially Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 1445 H/2024 AD, by holding a low-cost basic food program. This program is organized in collaboration with private companies and Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) such as Pasar Jaya, Dharma Jaya, and the Tjipinang Food Station.

The President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, said that this cheap basic food program aims to help residents obtain food at affordable and quality prices.

"The DKI Provincial Government's low-cost basic food program aims to help ease the burden on residents ahead of the HBKN and high prices," said Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director Agus Himawan to reporters in Jakarta, Monday.

The cheap food packages provided consist of one bag of premium five kilograms (kg) rice, two bottles of one liter of cooking oil, one kg of sugar, one kg of flour, and one packaging bag, at a price of Rp. 100,000 per package.

In an effort to ensure the availability of cheap basic necessities, Perumda Pasar Jaya has distributed 16,500 food packages in 14 locations in the DKI Jakarta area until early March 2024. Distribution locations include various areas such as Tidung Besar Island, Tanah Abang District, Swadharma Shop, Tanjung Priok Village, and others.

Agus also explained that according to the Pasar Jaya outlet commodity stock, various types of basic necessities, such as rice, cooking oil, wheat flour, chicken meat, beef, and sugar were available. This stock comes not only from Pasar Jaya, but also from other traders as well as subsidized low-cost food stocks.

"In the record, these stocks do not include stocks in traders, including subsidized low-cost food stocks and stocks as of March 2024," he explained.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has set a target for distribution of 44 sub-districts in the February to April 2024 period. With this cheap basic food program, it is hoped that DKI Jakarta residents can feel helped in meeting food needs ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
