Nyepi Day, Ketapang-Gilimanuk Ferry Crossing Not Operating For 24 Hours
BALI - A number of activities were temporarily suspended for Nyepi Day. One of them is ferry crossing from Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi to Gilimanuk, Jembrana Regency, Bali, and the opposite direction.
The route is temporarily closed or for 24 hours during the New Year's Nyepi Day Saka 1946 which falls on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Quoting Antara, March 10, Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Shelvy Arifin stated that the closure of the route from Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java to Gilimanuk Port, followed up on the joint call regarding the implementation of the series of Nyepi Holy Day Saka New Year 1946.
"In honor of Hindus celebrating Nyepi Holy Day, especially on the island of Bali, where the majority of the people are Hindus, ASDP has closed ASDP port and crossing operational services which are one of the entrance and exit gates from the island of Bali," he said in a statement in Banyuwangi, East Java, Sunday.
The crossing service from Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) began to be closed on Monday (11/3) at 00:00 WIB with the last service of regular ships from Ketapang Port on Sunday (10/3) at 22.00 WIB.

To anticipate service users who have not been transported from Gilimanuk Port, said Shelvy, continued by the Command Post/Extra Ship Ship which will operate until 05.00 WITA, then Gilimanuk Port will be closed at 05.00 WITA.
The first ship after Nyepi Day, from Ketapang Port, will depart on Tuesday (12/3) at 05.00 WIB.
Shelvy appealed to all service users to arrange their travel schedule according to the port's operational schedule, and ASDP has also instructed shipping operators operating to socialize the temporary closure of crossing activities to service users.
"Given that there is no service for 24 hours, it is hoped that service users can pay more attention to their arrival to the port. Resure the ship's departure schedule and immediately purchase tickets long ago, considering that current ticket purchases can be made from 'H-60'," he said.
