Jakarta Post-UU IKN Status Questioned, DPRD Calls DKJ Bill Planning In Bad DPR
JAKARTA - Jakarta's current status has become a question after one of the members of the Indonesian House of Representatives said Jakarta had lost its status in the capital city after the ratification of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (IKN).
Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Misan Samsuri, assessed that the process of discussing and drafting the law, especially regarding the Draft Law on Special Regions of Jakarta (RUU DKJ) was carried out badly.
"Personally, of course, I deeply regret the poor planning of invited invites in the DPR. How then Jakarta's status is not clear by law until today," said Misan in a statement quoted on Sunday, March 10.
Misan views that the DKJ Bill should be discussed before the 2024 General Election. Thus, there is no vacuum in legal certainty for Jakarta status.
According to Misan, the discussion of the DKJ Bill into law seems very slow. On that basis, Misan hopes that the basis for determining the specificity of Jakarta must be completed immediately.
This is because if the DKJ Bill is passed shortly after the IKN Law, the main duties and functions of the regional government and the obligations of the central government (puss) to Jakarta will become clear.
"My hope is that the DPR-RI, especially those from the Jakarta electoral district, will initiate the acceleration of the formulation of the Jakarta special law so that it can be used as a basis for managing Jakarta as well as regional rights and obligations to the center," said the member of the Democratic Party faction.
For information, the 13th Plenary Session of the Fourth Session Period of 2023-2024 has officially approved the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI to discuss the DKJ Bill. Chairman of the Legislative Council of the House of Representatives, Supratman Andi Agtas, said that Jakarta has no longer had the status of a Special Capital City Region (DKI) since February 15.
"DKI he lost his status on February 15 yesterday, that's the implication of the IKN Law, the 2nd year ends February 15. Now DKI has no status. Now that's what makes us have to accelerate (discussion of the DKJ Bill)," said Supratman, Tuesday, March 5.

Later, the Chairman of the Fractional Group (Kapoksi) Baleg DPR RI from the NasDem Faction, Taufik Basari, stated that Jakarta was still the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia until the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) was inaugurated.
"Currently, Jakarta is still the capital city because IKN has not been officially designated as the capital city. And some government implementations are still running in DKI. Therefore, we are still functioning Jakarta as the capital city," said Taufik at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, March 7.
