Karimata Becomes A Special Guest On Symphonesia Across Eras: Music 80
JAKARTA - Karimata became a special performer who was present at Symphonesia Cross Era: Music 80 which was held at the Jakarta Theater, Taman Ismail Marzuki
The concert hosted by Erwin Gutawa Orchestra on Thursday, March 7, presented two Karimata personnel, Aminoto Kosin and Candra Darusman as surprises for the audience.
"This is a surprise for all of you because it's not on the poster," said Erwin Gutawa.
There are two members of Karimata. They are great musicians, orchestrators, great songwriters, musical figures too now. They are Aminoto Kosin and Candra Darusman.
Then, Aminoto Kosin and Candra Darusman climbed onto the stage and greeted with lively applause from the audience.
"We will play the song we used to play first in instrumental terms," said Erwin.
Three Indonesian jazz fusion heroes attended the Symphonesia Cross Era stage: Music 80. They brought Repertoar Dahaga from the album Pasti (1985).
The audience's response was even more lively when Aminoto Kosin and Candra Darusman took turns making improvisations.
Karimata's appearance ended with a loud applause from the audience present.
Apart from Karimata, Symphonesia Cross Era: Music 80 also features Albert Fakdawer, Candil, Rahmania Astrini and Vina Panduwinata.
Accompanied by Erwin Gutawa Orchestra, they performed their best works in the 1980s, including Floating from January Christy, A Love Story at a School from Chrisye, Bento from Iwan Fals, A Moment from Ruth Sahanaya, A Moment from You Present from Utha Likumahuwa, A Expression from Titi DJ, and Vina Panduwinata who sings Blue and Love Letter.
For information, jazz fusion is a genre that was popular in the 1980s, including in Indonesia. Karimata is one of the icons whose personnel are still known today.
Karimata was formed with initial personnel Candra Darusman (piano), Erwin Gutawa (bass), Denny TR (guitar), Aminoto Kosin (keyboards), and Uce Haryono (drums).
They released five albums, namely Pasti (1985), Lima (1987), Biting (1988), Karimata - Dave Valentin (1990), and Jezz (1991).
The album also involves many big names from within and outside the country, including January Christy, Harvey Malaihiolo, Dian PP, Bob James, Lee Ritenour, Ernie Watts, and Phil Perry.
