Indonesian Furniture Products Are Interested In The World, IFEX 2024 Records Transactions Of IDR 4.65 Trillion

JAKARTA - Indonesian furniture and handicraft products are increasingly in demand by the international market. These products were introduced through the largest furniture and handicraft exhibition in the country, namely the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX).

During the four days of the exhibition, direct transactions or on the spot were recorded at 300 million United States (US) dollars or equivalent to IDR 4.65 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,498 per US dollar).

In this year's IFEX violations, there were 13,730 international buyers or buyers from 117 countries in the world. Most buyers come from Europe, Australia, China, and the United States (US), as well as additional from developing countries such as India, Bahrain, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.

It is recorded that furniture products such as TV tables, cabinets, and mirrors of three types of wood, namely mangoes, flares, and mindi from Klaten, Central Java, have penetrated the Australian and European markets.

Project Manager of IFEX 2024, Rizki Pahrudi explained that the number of international buyers in IFEX in 2024 has doubled compared to the previous year.

Furthermore, Rizki said that visitors choose products and make direct transactions on the spot, then they will be sent by furniture and handicraft manufacturers.

Seeing the many needs for sending these furniture and handicraft products, Rizki continued, at this year's IFEX exhibition, the organizers invited J&T Cargo as an official logistics partner for domestic and foreign shipments.

"We are collaborating with J&T Cargo as official logistics partners to present optimal shipping solutions for domestic and foreign countries, in order to support the smooth business of furniture and handicraft industry players," Rizki said in an official statement, Friday, March 8.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Furniture and Crafts Industry Association (HIMKI), Abdul Sobur said the increase in sales of furniture and handicraft products would have a positive impact on the Indonesian economy.

We see transactions that occur during the exhibition as a realization of the positive economic growth target that we mentioned at the beginning. In the midst of global economic conditions like today, this result proves that our furniture industry is able to make a significant contribution to the national economy," said Sobur.

Sobur believes next year, the IFEX exhibition will attract more participants and buyers. IFEX 2025 will be held again next year from 6 to 9 March 2025.
