KPK Will Call Again Ahmad Sahroni In The SYL Money Laundering Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will again summon Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Ahmad Sahroni regarding the alleged money laundering crime (TPPU) that ensnared former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

The recall was made because the General Treasurer of the NasDem Party asked for a postponement of the examination today, Friday, March 8.

"The person concerned was not present and confirmed to the investigative team that the investigation was postponed and a recall was immediately scheduled," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, March 8.

Ali has not been able to specify the exact time of the next summons. He only said that his institution hopes that Sahroni can return to attend.

"We believe that witnesses will be present to clarify the construction of the case in the investigation we are currently conducting," he said.

As previously reported, Sahroni agreed that he was summoned as a witness in the money laundering case of Syahrul Yasin Limpo. However, he could not attend because he only received a summons on Thursday, March 7 yesterday.

"I can't come today. I have sent a letter to the KPK for a postponement because the letter (from the KPK, ed) only came yesterday," he said when contacted by reporters.

The KPK has named Syahrul Yasin Limpo as a suspect in alleged money laundering. This step was taken after investigators developed allegations of extortion and gratification which is currently being tried.

In the case of extortion and gratification, Syahrul was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion in the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. Then, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 M from January 2020 to October 2023.
