JAKARTA The weightlifting sport (sports) has the potential to get a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics which will take place from 26 July-11 August 2024.
Weightlifting is one of the sports that has consistently appeared in the Olympics. In the last three editions, namely in London, Rio, and Tokyo, they have even managed to bring home a silver medal.
"However, the egg (gets a medal) gold has not broken yet. In Paris later, we have the potential to get a gold medal," said the General Chair of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI), Rosan P. Roeslani.
One athlete who can be relied on for weightlifting at the 2024 Paris Olympics to bring home gold was Rahmat Erwin Abdullah.
He is a 73 kilogram world record holder engraved at the 2022 Asian Games. At that time, he recorded the best batch 158 kg snatch and broke the 201 kg world record in clean and jerk lifts.

Based on the latest rankings in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), currently there are four Indonesian lifters who are in a safe position to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The four are Rahmat Erwin Abdullah and Rizki Juniansyah in the 73 kilograms class and Eko Yuli Irawan and Riko Saputra who are in the 61 kilograms class.
Rahmat took first place followed by Rizky in second place. Meanwhile, Eko was in fifth position followed by Riko in eighth place.
