French Results Open 2024: Gregoria Runs Aground In The Second Round
JAKARTA Indonesian women's singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, was stopped in the second round of the French Open 2024 after losing to Japan's singles, Aya Ohori.
The seventh seed returned from the tournament after giving up two straight games 17-21 and 16-21 at Adidas Arena, Paris, France, Thursday, March 7, 2024, WIB night.
"I admit that today the opponent played very well. The strategy applied overwhelmed me. This is a big record for me in next week's tournament," Gregoria said after the match.
"I should have been able to show a better one, try even more earlier, but indeed I can't get out of the pressure," said the 2017 junior world champion.
Gregoria's defeat made Indonesia already lose eight representatives out of a total of 13 representatives sent to the Super 750 BWF level tournament.

Three of the seven representatives previously eliminated came from the men's doubles number. While the rest are from the two mixed doubles two, one men's singles, and one women's doubles.
The men's doubles that have returned are Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
Then, the two mixed doubles that died were Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
The other two representatives who could not continue their journey were the women's doubles pair Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose and last season's men's singles champion, Jonatan Christie.
