PLN Target Adds EBT Generation Capacity To 80 GW In 2040
PT PLN (Persero) has set a new target to pursue the new renewable energy mix (EBT).
Through its latest Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that his party is targeting to increase the capacity of EBT and gas plants by 80 gigawatts (GW) by 2040.
"Until 2040, the total power of power plants is around 80 GW," Darmawan said in his remarks at the Road to PLN Investment Day, Wednesday, March 6.
Darmawan detailed, of the 80 GW targeted generators, 75 percent of the power plants are based on new and renewable energy, while the other 25 percent are gas-based.
Darmawan further added that his party also added 3 types of basic load generators to the latest RUPTL, including Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP) or geothermals, Gas Power Plants (PLTG), and Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA).

"Because there was a Presidential Decree on EBT 2 years ago, it has prohibited entry to the RUPTL, namely the design of coal-based power plants. So, the baseload is only 3, gas, hydro, and there is also geothermal," continued Darmawan.
Darmawan said, previously the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN) issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the PLN's RUPTL did not go hand in hand. However, now both of them have reached an agreement and all plans made by PLN are confirmed to be in accordance with the RUKN.
"This time, Alhamdulillah, thank God Almighty, that RUKN with RUPTL, today I'm getting along," concluded Darmawan.
